Living on the Front
You're god damn right! Front side for life!
Colorado Style
Colorado style kind of looks like some Japanese person put a bunch of random English words on a T-shirt.
Popeye's Dead?!
We all know Popeye's favorite line he uses whenever Olive Oil gives him shit: "I yam what I yam." But what's news to me is that Popeye kicked the bucket in 1999. You'd think he would have lived longer eating all that spinach, but I guess that's the life of a sailor. Rest in peace, sailor man.

Hey Peter... I'm a size XL.
ReplyDeleteIs it still okay to send a can of spinach to Popeye's grave? Or was he buried at sea with Bin Laden?
Man... who make's that crappy English up? I want that job!
It would be a fun job, wouldn't it.
DeleteThey already make great gifts, but if you could get thousands of Japanese people to wear a shirt with an inside joke that you wrote on it, that'd be priceless.
1929-1999
ReplyDeleteIt was Popeye's 70th anniversary.
ohhhh right -that makes sense. ;)
DeleteWhat doesn't make sense is why they're selling these new shirts in 2012. Japan is a little behind the western times but thats pushing it.
It is just very depressing to see how Japanese use the English language. I have seen misspelled words on public streets and on national TV. How embarrassing. I suppose it is not for Japan.
ReplyDeleteYour page is fantastic. I love these photos especially. Have you been to Korea? Their abuse of the English language is a somewhat subtler thing. Well, sometimes. I once saw a girl with a black blouse with the giant letters F*U*C*K across the front. But for the most part, I'll find clothing, note books and other items with long, rambling dialogue that sounds incredibly poetic or wise, but upon further examination makes no sense at all
